Tekken

The teaser trailer for the upcoming movie, "Tekken," has now been released. "Tekken," is based off of the video game series of the same name. The movie is slated for release sometime this year.

Looking at the trailer reminds me of other fighting video games that were turned into movies like Street Fighter (1994), Mortal Kombat (1995), and DOA: Dead or Alive (2006). I can taste the cheese now. Um!

'District 9' 2nd Trailer Released

Earlier last month I posted the 1st trailer to District 9. In it not much detail was revealed about the movie. However, this 2nd trailer shows a lot more action and explains in greater detail the plot of the story. I'm definitely looking forward to this movie. District 9 is slated for release August 19, 2009.

Moon

Astronaut Sam Bell (Sam Rockwell) is sent to the moon by a company named, Lunar Industries to mine Helium-3, which could possibly help reverse the Earth's energy crisis. Isolated from the rest of the world his only companion is a computer named GERTY (voiced by Kevin Spacey). Nearing the end of his 3 year stint on the moon he begins to encounter unusual situations, which happen to drive him crazier by the day. Can Sam survive to make it back home to Earth to see his wife and daughter?

This film has been receiving a lot of praise from fans and critics alike. Currently it's running in limited release. Hopefully, however it will be given a wider release, so fans can enjoy this Sci-Fi gem.

Gamer

Release Date: 9-4-09
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1034032/

“Gamer,” stars Gerald Butler (300, RocknRolla, P.S. I Love You (Huh?!)), John Leguizamo (Carlito’s Way, Spawn, To Wong Foo (Why?!!!!)), Ludacris (Crash, Hustle & Flow, Max Payne), and Michael C. Hall (Dexter, Six Feet Under). The film is set in the near future where an online mass-scale multiplayer game called, “Slayers,” allow gamers to take full control over real human prisoners, who are all on deathrow through mind controlling technology, which was created by a reclusive billionaire named Ken Castle (Michael C. Hall). All participating inmates agree to a deal, which states that if an inmate manages to survive 30 sessions he’s granted an immediate release from prison. Nearing the set amount is a deathrow inmate named Kable (Gerald Butler) who is a cult hero of the game. Kable is being controlled by a gamer named Simon. As each week passes their status grows and Kable’s chances for freedom grows ever closer.

I know we’ve seen this type of movie plenty of times before with such motion pictures as, Death Race 2000, The Condemned, No Escape, and The Running Man, but with Mr. “This is Sparta!” in the mix I see this film being somewhat successful and enjoyable to watch. Hopefully it doesn’t disappoint.
