RIP to Boxing Great Alexis Arguello


Alexis "The Explosive Tin Man" Arguello was found dead today from a gun shot wound to the chest. It is being reported that it was self-inflicted.

The Nicaraguan boxing great was a champion in 3 different weight classes and was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1992 and retired in 1995 at the age of 57 with a record of 82-8 with 65 knockouts. He is best known for his two dramatic fights with Boxing Hall of Famer Aaron Pryor, during the early 1980s. After his retirement from the ring he entered politics and became the mayor of Managua, the capitol city of Nicaragua. In 2003, Ring Magazine listed Arguello as the 20th greatest puncher in boxing history.
